As Director of Software Engineering at Global Health Labs (GH Labs), Matt Horning leads the machine learning team to develop news tools at the intersection of healthcare and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Some areas of focus of the team include cervical cancer screening and ultrasound technologies.

Prior to GH Labs, Matt worked for over ten years at Intellectual Ventures (IV) Property Holdings, the lab that served Global Good, an investment fund of IV. There, he focused primarily on optics and computer-vision based diagnostics technologies for the development of a malaria hemozoin detection tool, a photothermal lateral flow assay reader, and an automated malaria microscopy, among other product innovations.

Matt earned his MSE from the University of Washington and BS from Arizona State University, both in Electrical Engineering.
